Preview
A year ago we saw Deko Ricketts set a class record with a blazing 1:54.78. With Deko off at Wash U where he will be representing Wash U at DIII Nationals this weekend the race is wide open. Four guys have gone sub 2 this year, led by Fatima senior Tom Zeilman. After a fourth place finish last year, Zeilman comes back the top returner and looks ready to take a shot at the top of the podium. He will have to watch out for Daylan Quinn who has been having a great year witha 6th place finish in the fall in cross and a 4:22 1600 earlier this spring. With the elimination of the prelims, doubling back should be easier. All 4 guys that have gone sub 2 this year are running individual races before the 800 on Saturday. Coming back from the 1600 or 400 is no easy task. The fastest runner this year not attempting to do the 800/1600 or 800/400 double is Stafford soph Jacob Clements. With just an hour and fifteen minutes between the 1600/800 this could play a factor in the race.
