Preview

Charles Jones is one of the best 800 meter runners in the nation, if not the best. He placed second way back in 2011 as a Freshman only behind Alfred Larry who just won a JUCO National title in a blazing 45.80. He is the only guy in the field to have run under 48, which he has done twice, he has run under 49 sixtimes this year, and to top it off he is also run 1:50.19 already this year. With Jones the clear favorite, the challengers include Jordan Barber of Notre Dame who placed 6th in the prelims last year but did not run the final as well as 2013 10th place finisher Daniel Mahurin of Grain Valley who is coming off the win at Sectional 4. With 12 guys sub 40 this year it will be a tough fight for those 8 All-State spots.
