Boys

Malik Holman

Dylan Quisenberry (Lafayette Wildwood)

The stud sophomore became the second sophomore in three years to win a distance race in Class 4 at the State Track Meet.  His 800 speed (1:54) showed in a solid PR of 4:11 in the 1600 to gain a second place finish.  The super talented sophomore will lead one of the most promising teams in the region.   While he might specialize in track, there is no doubt he can do damage on the course as he was sixth in Class 4 during his sophomore year.

Daylan Quinn (Liberty Mountain View)

A small school stud, Quinn took the Class 2 title at the State Track meet for both the 1600 and 3200.  His 1600 time is among the best for sophomores in the nation – 4:18.  Quinn will be looking to transition that success from track season to cross country where he was sixth a year ago.

Alec Haines (Lafayette Wildwood)

Another strong underclassman for Lafayette, Haines clicked off a sub 4:20 for 1600 this past year.  He was 7th for the Lancers at the State Track Meet, a very strong showing for only a sophomore.   Haines was 35th a year ago at the XC State Meet, but should be more towards the front with another year under his belt.

Malik Holman (Mexico)

Moving down to Class 3, Holman did some damage at the state track meet taking fifth in both the 1600 and 3200.  This was after a successful second year of cross where he placed 11th at the state meet.

Austin King (Potosi)

Moving down a class, King is coming off of a second place finish a year ago.  He will have his hands full dealing with the 1-2 punch of Karls and Gillam from Festus.  King was a place behind Holman at the State Meet for track, placing 6th for the 1600m.

Girls

Mia Jerman

Taylor Werner (Ste. Genevieve)

Listing off her accomplishments seems like overkill at this point.  The question isn’t will she be the top junior in the state but will she be the top junior in the nation.

Mia Jerman (Ste. Geneveive)

Talk about a loaded class, Jerman and Werner have done some great things as underclassman.  Now with two years of success, it will be exciting to see what they can accomplish this year. Jerman was fourth at the State XC Meet last year and dipped under 5:00 for the 1600 during outdoor.

Hannah Pierson (Marquette)

11th a year ago, Pierson excelled in track placing fourth in the 1600 and sixth in the 3200.

Sarah Nicholson (Lafayette Wildwood)

Nicholson had a great sophomore year with a fourth place finish at the State XC Meet.  Her track season might not have ended the way she would have hoped, but that will surely serve as extra motivation for her junior year.

Anna West (Lafayette Wildwood)

Yes, if are wondering Lafayette has taken up 40% of this article.  You could say they are doing something right.  West was 13th last year as a sophomore.  Add that to PRs of 5:10 and 11:08 and you have someone who will surely be among the top harriers this season.
