Cross Country at the CHSCA Multi-Sport Clinic (Updated)

It will be here before you know it, and you don't want to miss this summer's slate of speakers!

The 2015 Multi-Sport Clinic will be held from July 31st and August 1st at the Radisson Hotel Denver Southeast (3155 S. Vaughn Way, Aurora, CO 80014). There will be a great line-up of cross country speakers slated to present at this year’s clinic. Below, you can see the list of this years speakers along with schedule for the two days.

This year's regional rep meeting will once again take place on Friday night at 5:00, in between the last cross country presentation of the evening and the coaches social.

This Year's Clinic Presenters Include:

Jesse Griffin (Lee’s Summit West HS, Missouri): One of the top HS coaches in the Midwest. Coach Griffin has coached 6 large class state XC championship girls teams in the state of Missouri, and 2 in track. In addition, Coach Griffin has guided his athletes to 136 All-State honors in both XC and track, along with 7 All-American honors at New Balance Nationals Outdoor.

Brett Shanklin (Frontier Academy): 2013 3A Boys State Champions, and 2 time runner-up with his girls and boys in 2012/2014. Coach Shanklin will be covering how to create a culture of success on your team.

John Reyes (Grandview HS): In less than 2 years, coach Reyes was turned Grandview HS into a state track and field powerhouse. In his presentation he will be coming to demonstrate speed development drills for XC athletes.

Kelly Christensen (Palmer Ridge): In 2014 Coach Christensen’s boys won the 4A CO State XC Championship, and the 2015 4A Track & Field Championship. Coach Christensen previously ran for Western State where he was also a DII National Champion in the men’s steeplechase.

Jeff Boele (Lyons HS): Since Coach Boele’s arrival to Lyons HS he has helped the Lions win a total of 4 CO 2A State XC Championships. In addition, he has also helped to guide the stellar career of NXN finalist and World Junior XC qualifier Paul Roberts.

Natalie Reyes (Cherry Creek HS): One of the top distance coaches in the US, Coach Reyes guided distance standout and state 800/1600 record holder Jordyn Colter during her senior track season.

Emily Hanenburg (The Classical Academy): Former University of Colorado XC/track athlete, and now an assistant distance coach for The Classical Academy. Coach Hanenburg has been a part of multiple state track and cross country championships with both the boys and girls while coaching at TCA.

Laura Thweatt (Monarch HS): 2015 US XC National Champion, and assistant coach at Monarch HS. Coach Thweatt has helped the Monarch girls cross country team win three 5A State XC Championships, along with several NXN appearances.

Karen Sprafke and Jeremy Estell (Mountain Ridge Middle School, feeder to Mountain Vista High School): Coach Sprafke and Estell have created one of the top middle school programs in Colorado by winning 5 of the last 6 Douglas County District XC team championships. Their MS program regularly sees over 100 athletes out for the team each year. They will be focusing their discussion on how to build and coach a middle school XC program.
