Lafayette Sweeps in Memphis

The top ranked Lafayette Lancers traveled to Memphis to compete in the Brooks Memphis Twilight this weekend. Both teams left Tennessee with the team titles sweeping the team competetion.

On the boy's side, the sixth ranked team in the nation took the second, third, and fourth places led by Devin Meyrer with a time of 15:43. Meyrer beat out Alec Haines, our top ranked runner in the state, who finished in 15:58. Dylan Quisenberry completed the trio in 16:06. To put the times in perspective, last year Camden Barrett ran 16:08 to finish second.

The Lafayette boys were rounded out by Tommy Laarman (16:44) and Nassim Ouffatole (17:06). They put up a total of 48 points, defeating West Plains handily who racked up 119 points to finish second.

The Lady Lancers went 1-2 on the girl's side with Anna West taking the win in 18:04. Her teammate, Sarah Nicholson, grabbed second place in 18:22. The team battle was close for the girls as Lafayette beat Houston (TN) by a mere five points.

We will see the Lancers back in action next week at the Forest Park Invitational.
