A California Meet that Almost Slipped through the Nets

Elijah DeLaCerda clicked off a 10:18.07 3200 in California over the weekend while we were all watching the horizontal snowfall. Colorado Track XC file photo by Alan Versaw.

It's getting harder to keep with with all the out-of-state excursions Colorado teams are making these days.

When I was putting up the top freshman boys marks article, I noticed a California time for Elijah DeLaCerda in the 3200. One thing led to another, and soon I found myself sitting on a pile of results for Alamosa from last weekend's Russel Cup out of Carpinteria, CA.

Clearly, Alamosa found a means of defeating Colorado's weekend weather.

Among the highlights for the Mean Moose were a 16.18 100 hurdles for Jessica Archuleta, a 53.15 400 for freshman Chad Jackson, a 2:01.94 800 for Oscar Martinez, a 4:39.15 1600 for Chad Palmer, a 9:46.50 3200 for Isaiah DeLaCerda, and, of course, the 10:18.07 for Elijah DeLaCerda. That's not exactly the same as a 10:18 here in Colorado, but it is the best freshman 3200 time of the year for a Colorado athlete.
