Victoria Findley's Runner Journal
1. What are you general Goals?
My goals for this year are to stay healthy and continue to grow as a runner and get faster as the season goes on. I put in so many miles over the summer and I can't wait to show that in my races this year. I think I have a good shot at contending for the state title individually and the girls on our team are super close so I hope to continue to grow as a team because I also think we have a shot at the state title as a team.
2. What are you currently working on?
This year I am specifically working on being able to go out with the lead pack in a fast time. I have a lot of confidence after last year which I think has helped me a lot. This year I know I can contend with the top girls, so my motives are more of placing high rather than just running a fast time.
3. Do you have any advice to younger runners?
My advice to younger runners would be that this sport is something you have to work extremely hard towards, and you are going to get out what you put in. You will have races you aren't happy with but the main goal is to learn from those mistakes and move on to your next race. The rewards you get from racing are so special and like nothing else.
4. How has running changed your life?
Running has completely changed my life. Coming in freshman year it was all about just trying to get through a 5 mile run on Monday and now, it's weird to say that I look forward to the Monday 5 mile runs with my teammates. I have gained some of my closest friends through cross country and even made good friends with people from different schools.
