Student athlete of The Summit Preparatory School to sign with Oklahoma State University
This coming Wednesday, November 9th, 2016, Claire Workman will sign her letter of intent to run Cross Country and Track & Field for Division 1 school, Oklahoma State University. The signing and celebration will be hosted by her high school, The Summit Preparatory School at the The Fieldhouse Sportscenter at 4:00 p.m., located at 2235 W Kingsley Street in Springfield.
Claire's success in high school sports is well documented. In Jefferson City this past Saturday, Workman seized her third, individual class 1 state Cross Country championship; this victory also contributed to the success of her team as they clinched the state championship for the first time. In her state Track & Field appearances, Workman is the state champion in the 800, 1600, and 3200 meter races for the previous three years, as well as holding the Class 1 state record times in each of those distances. For the past two years, her 4x800 meter relay has placed first at state, and she was on the 2015 Class 1 Championship team. While Workman holds 16 state championship titles, she remains grounded and focused as she heads into the off-season to condition in preparation for her senior Track & Field season.
Set to graduate in the spring of 2017, Claire Workman is a role model in the classroom as well earning a 4.0 grade point average and the reputation for excellence among her teachers. Regarding her choice, Claire shared, "Oklahoma State University has an incredibly friendly and talented team and coaching staff that I am excited to be a part of next fall."
