Finally, we got the weekend we deserved. Mighty performances spilling over into every corner of our great state and beyond. Missouri was well represented nationally at the Arcadia Invite in California by girl's mega power Lee's Summit West and another coach O'Connor masterpiece from Austin Hindman. Huge meets took place leaving dozens of personal best and school records in their wake.
As our state preseason, all-state lists and team power rankings predicted there is no team as dominate in Missouri as Lee's Summit West. In California, they went out and lit up the scoreboard with great individual performances and in the relays. The highlight of the weekend was their 4:01 finish in the 1600 meter medley relay. It's hard for someone as special as Austin Hindman to surprise us. Well, Austin keeps making the doubters look like fools the World Champion triathlete went out to California and set a state record in the 3200-meter run. However, he didn't just break the record he obliterated it running a mind-boggling 8:43.0 finishing second to only the California state champion and national number 1 in the 1600 meters. The race included over 18 state champion simply crazy.
