Classes 3-5's 400m Runners to Watch in 2019

Class 5

The Class 5 400m has big shoes to fill after the awesome performances last year. Defending State Champion Courtney Williams returns on the Girls side, and she also owns the fastest returning time with a 55.34. She'll face challnegers Emari Grimes, Danielle Frank, and Shelby Butts who have all ran sub 57 to defend her title.

After what I consider the best race at State I've ever seen, the Class 5 Boys 400m is going to be a much anticipated rematch. Defending Champion Justin Robinson of Hazelwood West and runner up Chris Dupree of Park Hill South put on a show at the State Meet running 46.93 and 47.19 respectively. Both were only sophomores last year, so there's reason both of them will improve and we could see both them drop time off already impressive times. Also of note, Robinson split 44.7 in the 4x400m at the U20 World Championships so there's also that. I can't wait to see these two race again.
