Class 5
The Class 5 Girls Pole Vault looks to be a battle between last year's 4th and 5th place finishers. Erin Huff of Jackson placed 4th and defeated Olivia Lyon of Ozark on misses, as they both vaulted 11-0 at State. Lyon has the highest returning vault however with an 11-7, and she has also cleared 11-2 while Huff's PR is 11-0. That is why I give Lyon a slight edge over Huff, but it really could go either way.
With Phenom KC Lightfoot gone, the Class 5 Boys Pole Vault looks a lot different. Last year's runner up Reagan Ulrich who owns a PR of 15-9, will match up Eli Darrough and Darin Smalls who have vaulted 16-0 and 15-7 respectively. Either one of those three could end up winning, and it'll be fun to watch it play out at State in May.
