The Rain (The Sky)
Despite very nice temperatures throughout the week, almost all of the weekend meets were washed out by rain this weekend. This left several of the States top teams and athletes without a meet, and mother nature remains undefeated.
Reagan Ulrich (Branson)
The Branson Junior broke his school pole vault record with a vault of 16-4.75 on Thursday night at the Branson Pirate Relays. Not only was this the school record, it was the 6th highest vault in State History according to our database. That vault also sits him as the 5th highest vaulter in the United States so far this outdoor season. It was a 7 inch PR for him, and was nearly a foot higher than he vaulted during the indoor season. It'll be interesting to watch his season develop as he looks to get closer and closer to 17 feet.
Lance Ward (Carl Junction)
Ward also kicked off his season at the Branson Pirate Relays and did so in impressive fashion. He popped of State leading times in both the 200m and 400m with times of 21.88 and 48.75. Both of those times were just short of his PR's of 21.85 and 48.54, which is a great sign considering how early in the season it is. Be sure to keep on eye on him throughout the season in Class 4.
Grant Conway (St. James)
After a fantastic indoor season Grant Conway is already off to a spectacular start outdoors. He leads the State in both the 110H and 300H after racing at the Cuba Relays last week. His 110H time of 14.18 is just short of his PR of 14.12 and is the 25th fastest time in the United States right now. What's even more impressive is that he ran that race almost completely solo, as he won the race by over 2 seconds. The sky is truly the limit for the Iowa commit.
