After high school, Greene wanted to attend college but also focus more individually on track. Former Kansas City Royals owner Ewing Kaufman paid for Greene to attend college for two years at Kansas City Kansas Community College and Park University. During that time, Greene worked with legendary Sprint coach Al Hobson.

In September 1996, Greene relocated to Los Angeles to work with famed Sprint coach John Smith.

Greene's fame on the track spilled over to popular culture, where he had numerous appearances on TV shows such as Arli$$, Monesha, The List, Who Wants to be a Millionaire, and Dancing with the Stars.
