The Individual Title Race
The top returner in Class 1 boys is none other than the defending state champion himself. Jace Cavness (St. Albans) returns after winning last season, and he'll look to improve upon his winning time of 16:39 from that race to repeat as champion in 2020.
Ryan Cardenzana (Blue Eye) owns the fastest overall returning time in Class 1 with a 16:36 he ran at the Clever Invitational. He will look to improve upon his third place finish at the state meet a year ago. Tyler Blay (West Nodaway) was the runner up last season in Class 1, just losing out to Cavness at 16:42 and he'll look to win the rematch this fall.

The Team Title Chase
Last year's runner up Blue Eye will be dueling with last year's third place finisher Calvary Lutheran for the team title this year. They were only separated by four points a year ago. Blue Eye returns the entire top seven from last year, and they'll all look for big improvements as they challenge for the title this year. Calvary Lutheran though also returns their entire top seven, so this really looks like its going to be a good title fight.
Other teams chasing team trophies include Liberal, Defending state champion Oak Ridge, North Platte, Hermitage, Valle Catholic, and Fair Play.
