Brackins Leaps to US No. 1 Triple Jump at VA Showcase


Lee Summit senior, Johnny Brackins, made the trip to Virginia to participate in The VA Showcase in Virginia Beach, VA. In a meet that included many of the nations top athletes, Brackins rose to the challenge had an incredibly successful weekend.

The highlight of the day was in the triple jump, where Brackins leapt to a mark of 50-0.25 which currently sits as the top triple jump mark in the United State so far this indoor season. The mark is also the farthest in Missouri history for an indoor triple jump according to our database, and is 10th in state history when included with outdoor. 

 


Brackins also took third in the long jump with a mark of 23-9.75, which currently sits as the third best jump in the United States this year. He then took fourth place in the 55m hurdles with a time of 7.43 which also sits at the fourth fastest time in the country so far this year.
