Today we dive into the field events with a look at the top returning girls throwers in 2021. Starting this year, MSHSAA has decided to move all field event marks to metric, so be prepared to see some new looking numbers in the field!
The top overall returner in the girls discus heading into 2021 is Jacqueline David (William Chrisman) who comes into the season with a personal best of 45.29m. She is followed by Alivia Baucom (Rock Port) at 38.53m, J'dyn Green (Timberland) at 38.13m, Kaylani Hoskins (Raytown) at 37.36m, and Cadence Pauley (Milan) at 37.31m.
Jacqueline David (William Chrisman) also leads all returners in the girls shot put with a throw of 13.67m. Cydney Banks (Lee's Summit West) is next up with a throw of 12.59m, followed by Claire Pritchett (Nevada) at 12.37m, Kyren Postlewait (Cassville) at 12.19m, and Allee Brattin (Pleasant Hill) and J'dyn Green (Timberland) at 12.04m and 12.03m respectively.
Sydney Juszczyk (Trinity Catholic) hold the Class 3 state record in the javelin, and is the top overall returner with a throw of 47.24m. Marysa Flieg (Ste. Genevieve) is second with a throw of 41.49m, followed by Haidyn Berry (Webb City) at 40.69m, Julia Crenshaw (Ft. Zumwalt West) at 40.36m, and Hannah Jansen (Webster Groves) at 39.88m.
