2022 Glendale Girls Night Out Recap


Strayhorn, the Class 5 defending champion in the 100-meter hurdles, long jump, and high jump, totaled three victories and the long jump runner-up finish. She cruised to the win with a 14.33-second 100-hurdles. That clocking was just off her season best and MO#2 clocking of 14.28. Strayhorn also captured a win in the high jump in a battle of two all-time greats. Strayhorn cleared 1.75m/5-8.75 last May to put her in tie for 3rd all-time in the state. Blue Springs junior Arianna Calloway cleared 1.72m/5-7.5'' last year and the week before, to put her 23rd overall, just one centimeter from a tie for 12th all-time.

 

Capital City senior Kiara Strayhorn captured three titles and a runner-up finish at the Girls Night Out meet, claiming wins in 100, 100-hurdles, and high jump. Above, Strayhorn won the 100-hurdles at the Holt Invitational on April 2.

Strayhorn cleared 1.65m/5-3 in Springfield, just off her season best of 1.65m/5-4.75'' while beating current MO#1 Arianna Callaway (1.72m/5-7.75'') who finished second, clearing 1.60m/5-3. Calloway's Blue Springs teammate Kayleigh Jenkins also cleared 1.60m/5-3 to take third. Strayhorn's other victory came in the 100-meter dash in 12.46 to edge Blue Springs Kayleigh Jenkins by 1/100th of a second, 12.47.

 

Blue Springs rolled to a 1-2 finish in the 400-meter dash and claimed the victory in the 4x400-meters. Sophomore Ariana Jackson, a 5.64m/18-6'' long jumper herself, claimed the one-lap title with a 58.74 clocking while freshman teammate Paige Stuart was close behind in 58.84, more than a second and a half ahead of the rest of the field.

 

Blue Springs sophomore Ariana Jackson crosses the finish line to anchor the Wildcats to victory in the 4x400 in 4:10.45. Jackson won gold in the open 400 in 58.74 and ran a leg on the winning 4x200 that finished in 1:44.93.
