In her conference championship race, Park Hill South's Madi Conklin took first place.

Conklin not only won her first conference championship, it was also the first Greater Kansas City Suburban Conference Silver Division finals.

The league added teams and formed a new 'color' in Silver to go with Gold, Red, White, and Blue.

Five of the six teams in the division had at least one runner in the top 10 of the race held on Oct. 15 at Lee's Summit North High School.

Conklin was one of four Panthers in the top 10. Classmate Melania Puszczak was seventh, with Madi Conklin's her older sister, Ella Conklin, taking ninth and Mia James placed 10th.

Park Hill South placed first in the team standings with 39 points, edging Liberty by eight points.

Liberty had the second- and third-place finishers in the event. Sophomore Ella Brown was second in 19:15.79 and Britta Foust was third. Foust made a big jump from last year to this year running 19:24.79 - after taking 36th last year in the Gold Division in 21:29...
