The Class 1 boys race was the 10th and final of the 2022 MSHSAA State Cross Country Championships, the 4th edition at gorgeous Gans Creek Cross Country Course. After a blustery day 1, the 2nd day of the meet on Saturday started with cold and wet conditions after some Friday night showers. A light shower fell during the first two races of the day, but eventually the rain quite, the clouds spread, and the sun shone brightly. That made for good conditions for the final two races of the meet, the Class 1 boys and girls 5,000-meter jaunts.
