2022 Class 1 Boys State XC Photos

The Class 1 boys race was the 10th and final of the 2022 MSHSAA State Cross Country Championships, the 4th edition at gorgeous Gans Creek Cross Country Course. After a blustery day 1, the 2nd day of the meet on Saturday started with cold and wet conditions after some Friday night showers. A light shower fell during the first two races of the day, but eventually the rain quite, the clouds spread, and the sun shone brightly. That made for good conditions for the final two races of the meet, the Class 1 boys and girls 5,000-meter jaunts.

Heralded Hornets

The Hermitage Hornets were racing for another state title, and at 1,000-meters, things looked good. Justin Horn (left #329) was in 2nd, while Bennet Mantooth (#330) was 4th, and Justin Yates (#336) as the Hermitage totaled just 44 points.

Staying Clear and Clean

Nodaway Valley/West Nodaway's Riley Blay runs just outside of the wet and well worn path on a turn just after the mile mark in the Class 1 boys race.
