2022 MTCCCA Boys Track & Field Coach of the Year Honorees


The Missouri Track and Cross Country Coaches Association (MTCCCA) held its annual clinic and awards dinner in Columbia in December. MTCCCA hands out various awards, including Coach of the Year honors. Coach of the Year awards are handed out in each gender and class for cross country and track and field. The awards go to the member head coach of the top finishing team at the state meets.

After a 6th-place finish at the 2021 Class 2 State Track and Field Championships with 32 points, Coach Blair Lindsay's Principia Panthers found themselves in Class 1 in 2022 after enrollment breaks were determined. Principia posted one of the best state meet performances by a school in any classification in 2022. The Panthers wracked up 73 points for a 26 point victory to claim the Class 1 state title. Principia was led by one of the country's best sprinters in Issam Asinga, who won the 100 and 200, while also running on the 2nd-place 4x200 and 3rd-place 4x100 relays. Senior Rex Heath finished his career with 2nd-place finishes in the 800 and 1600, while also running on the 2nd-place 4x800 and the 4x400, where Principia placed 3rd.
