The final athlete of the week poll closed and the winner for the final vote of the year was Jackson Cantwell from Nixa.
In his first trip to the state finals, the freshman won the shot put in MSHSAA Class 5 with a throw of 19.60 meters, a new class record and gave him the title. He was also the runner-up in the discus event.
He won with 81% of the votes. The other nominees were Arhmad Branch, Festus; Joshua Manning, Lee's Summit and Jeffery Files, Ft. Zumwalt North.
