The NXR Midwest Regional is hosted at one of the premier cross country facilities in the country, the LaVern Gibson Championship Course in Terre Haute, Indiana. The facility was dedicated in 1997 and has hosted about 15 NCAA Division I Championships, several Division III Championships, many Division I Great Lakes Regional Championships, and at least 17 NXR Midwest meets.

A memorial at the course honors the three men behind the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course., businessman and land owner LaVern Gibson, longtime area high school and Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology coach William Welch, and longtime Indiana State coach Greg McNichols.
