Jackson Cantwell Awarded Missouri Boys T&F POY By Gatorade

His father's past is full of athletic success and Jackson Cantwell's future looks equally full of success. In the present, Cantwell's success has earned him the Missouri boys track and field Player of the Year by Gatorade.

The Nixa sophomore won both throws events at the Missouri state meet with tosses of 62.59m (205-3 feet) in the discus and 22.8 (74-8 feet) in the shot put.

The shot put win was the second consecutive for the state record holder as he went undefeated throughout the entirety of the season, which included a Nike Outdoor Nationals (NON) win. In the discus, the only loss came at the NON meet where he finished in fifth. By season's end, Cantwell had three meets with throws over 200-feet.

In the classroom, Cantwell maintains a 4.0 grade point average.

In addition to athletic and academic achievements, he has shown exemplary character by volunteering locally to serve food pantries and coaching young throwers in the area.
