POLL: Missouri Boys XC Runner of the Week (Aug. 30-31)


We are off and running on the 2024 Cross Country Season!

With a handful of meets kicking off the 2024 season this weekend, we saw several impressive performances already. Below are the top boys performances from the past week around Missouri. The winner will be crowned the Missouri Boys Runner of the Week for "Week Zero."

Polling starts on Monday, Sept. 2 at 8 a.m. and ends on Friday at 12 p.m.

Luke Sievers - Rock Bridge - The reigning Class 5 State Champion kicked off his junior season in style with a 19-second victory at the prestigious City Auto Memphis Twilight Classic, running 15:41.87. He was the only athlete under 16:00 there and led his Rock Bridge team to a massive 93-point victory over fellow Show-Me State squad West Plains.

Thomas Garrett - Park Hill South - The Park Hill South junior held off a cavalcade of who's-who returners from the KCMO area, running 15:37.10 to win the highly competitive Tim Nixon Invitational. He is already 3 seconds ahead of where he finished the 2023 season, when he was 20th at the Class 5 State Championships.

Wyatt Klaiber - El Dorado Springs - The El Dorado Springs sophomore Wyatt Klaiber had the fastest mark of the weekend with his 15:25.50 personal best at the Clinton XC Invitational. He was 1:48 off the next closest challenger, his teammate Shane Fletcher.

Nolan Spickert - Centralia - Be on the lookout for this up-and-coming freshman as Centralia's Nolan Spickert is 1-for-1 in victories in his short high school career so far. His 17:14.75 mark was good for the win at the Mexico Fall Invitational on Friday. Check the upcoming Class 3 Season Preview for more details on this talented young runner.
