With several big meets happening across the state this past week, we are already seeing that this is going to be a massive 2024 season.
Below are the top boys performances from the past week around Missouri. The winner will be crowned the Missouri Boys Runner of the Week for Week One.
Congratulations to Park Hill South's Thomas Garrett on being named Runner of the Week for Week Zero! The Park Hill South junior held off a cavalcade of who's-who returners from the KCMO area, running 15:37.10 to win the highly competitive Tim Nixon Invitational. He is already 3 seconds ahead of where he finished the 2023 season, when he was 20th at the Class 5 State Championships. He will move on to the finals during the week of the State Championships, where we will determine who had the top performance of the regular season!
Jackson Miller - SLUH - The super sophomore (pictured above) had a sensational start to his 2024 season with a runner-up finish at the Granite City Invitational in Illinois on Saturday. He posted a 14:21.30 3 Mile and is rolling already this fall.
Brendan Alfonso - Parkway Central - We saw two strong performances from Alfonso last week, a 9:48.60 2 mile for 4th at the Fleet Feet Cross Country Classic and a 16:04.06 5K at the Parkway Quad on his tough home course. He's part of a scary top 3 for the Colts.
Carson Driemeier - Festus - Driemeier kicked off his season with a bang, winning the Fleet Feet Cross Country Classic in 9:41.40 and leading his squad to a decisive season-opening victory as they look to win another state title this year.
Henry Acorn - Rockhurst - The Rockhurst Hawklets came in at No. 20 on the MileSplit50 rankings and are off to a flying start with a big win at the Todd Warner Kickoff Classic. Acorn won the individual race in 15:19.40 showing that sub-15 may be on the horizon.
