Macon's Caelan Harland Looks To Make History This Spring

Caelan Harland is back and his warmup for the track and field season was a good one.

After battling shin splints most of the indoor season, the senior at Macon High School took fourth place at the New Balance Indoor Nationals, held March 13-16 in Boston.

Harland took fourth with a jump of 16 feet, 4.75 inches - a mark he was happy with.

Harland is now preparing for the outdoor season and he will be in Austin, Texas for the 97th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays later this month.

He was one of the qualifiers to compete in the event which will held March 26-29. He's been there before and said he is excited to return to the Lone Star State.

Harland joined MoMileSplit to talk about the indoor nationals, the upcoming season, his goals to jump 18 feet and his plans to compete at South Dakota following graduation.

The senior will look to become a 4-time pole vault champion this spring for the Tigers. Only two boys athletes in MSHSAA history have won 4 in a row - Brian Hancock from Monroe City (2003-06) and Gage McAdams from Tarkio (2016-19). Harland is currently one of five 3-time MSHSAA champions.
