Class 2 Boys
The Top Returner
The Class 2 ranks are ruled by one man: Adrian's Bryson Jacobs. Not only is Jacobs the top Class 2 returner, not only is he the top returner in the entire State, but he is the top returner in the Javelin in the entire country. Jacobs finished the 2025 season with the second best mark in the entire country, a massive State record throw of 67.13m (220-3). It was good enough to earn a gold medal at Nike Outdoor Nationals and put him among the elites in US history. Now a senior, Jacobs has very little else to accomplish at the State level, and is already a National champion, so what else is in store for the 2026 season? Our bold prediction: 70 meters is in play.
The "Chase Pack"
The "chase pack" in Class 2 will most likely be in a hotly contested fight for the silver medal this spring. Two other boys return over 50 meters led by Fayette's Carter Vroman. Vroman is looking to pull in his fourth career all-State medal in the Javelin and enters the season with a personal best of 52.10m (170-11). He was undefeated in fourteen events in 2025 until he finished fourth at the State meet. Iberia's Kenneth Spencer also heads into the season at 51.56m (169-2). He was seventh at State last year.
Sleeper Pick to Watch
Even with six seniors in the top ten at the 2025 Class 2 State meet graduating, eleventh place finisher Ty Atkins of Chaffee heads into this season eleventh among returners on personal best. The sophomore finished fourth at his District meet and fourth at his Sectional meet before just missing a trip to the podium at State. He threw 45.72m (150-0) in his first season of Track and Field and should be on the watchlist this spring for a big medal in 2026.
