This Year
Returning Champ, Dallis Bailey, has shown her dominance in this race. Her time of 2:19.10 is already faster than what she ran last year at the state meet to win. Allysa Keil of Mark Twain has the second fastest time but is still five seconds behind Bailey. Sophie Angell, only a freshman from Lutheran (St. Charles), has run a 2:24.10 to put her in third in the rankings. She will also play a big part in her team’s number one ranked in Class 2 4x800m relay team. Others to watch for include Taylor Stuart, Angie Steinbacher, Morgan Nelson, and Savannah Beaver. With Bailey returning from a four and a half second victory at state, watch for her to be out front from the gun.

Returning All State Runners
Kaitlyn Fischer, Herculaneum, SO, 1st (Class 3)
Morgan Nelson, Buter, SR, 2nd
Kaya LeGrand, Barstow, SR, 8th
This Year
With Arcadia Valley moving up and Herculaneum moving down, watch for the Class of 2013 to continue to dominate Class 2. Fischer won both the 3200 and 1600 as a freshman in Class 3. She has a five second lead in the rankings over Bailey, the favorite in the 800m race. Sam Brolaski Of Mark Twain has run a 5:25.91 to be ranked third so far this season. Behind her is a pair of freshman – Karinne Lane of Hermann, and Sophie Angell of Lutheran St. Peters. After the top two finishers, things could be a little close as there are many girls around the 5:30 barrier.

(Courtney Rogers of Lutheran (St. Charles))
Returning All State Runners
Kaitlyn Fischer, Herculaneum, SO, 1st (Class 3)
Kaya LeGrand, Barstow, SR, 2nd
Melanie Lacey, Scott City, SR, 3rd
Ashtin Withers, New Bloomfield, JR, 5th
Brittany Leakey, Conway, SO, 6th
Kate Steiger, Cuba, JR, 7th
This Year
If this race were determined by times so far this season, Fischer would win this by a very wide margin. She currenly has a 33 second gap on the next fastest time in her class. Brittany Leakey of Conway is second, right ahead of Sam Brolaski. Another freshman could have a good showing – Class 2 cross country champ, Courtney Rogers, is currently ranked 4th in Class 2. Watch for Fischer to dominate this race, if it’s a good day for her, setting a class record is not out of her reach.
4x800 Meter Relay
(Sophie Angell of Lutheran (St. Charles))
It doesn’t even seem fair the team that Lutheran St. Charles has assembled. Cross country champ Courtney Rogers, fellow freshman Sophie Angell, currently ranked third in the 800, join Angie Stienbacher, a sophomore who is ranked 6th in the 800, and senior Emily Haberstroh to form a that looks to be the clear favorite going into Friday’s race. Hermann, who is stuck on the 10:00 barrier has a close lead on teams such as Mark Twain, Fatima, and Stockton.
