This Year
Tianna Valentine at first glance seems to be untouchable in the 100 Dash. However, Peyton Chaney sister of former boy’s state champ Paul Chaney doesn’t want to hand her the title. Look for a close finish in the last 10 meters and potentially five kids below 12.0 seconds.

This event is loaded in just one sectional you had four girls run in the 24.4 to 24.6 range. This particular event led to a number of people questioning if the times were wind aided to being powered by aliens. The answer is much simpler. These girls are just fast! My dark horse in the race with the biggest upside is Jaronica Owens. Don’t count out the returning state champ or Roye from Ladue this race could finish in historic fashion. Get your popcorn ready because this event will be the feature premier.

Montenea Roye and Kendra White one has ran the fastest times ever in high school season and one has ran the fastest times ever run during summer track. I guarantee the record is toast! The one thing that is still up in the air is who will come home with the state record. Both kids are super hard workers and will push one another to the absolute limit. Plus Asia Thomas could break up the St. Louis Lightning party and has in the recent past run times that rival both Roye and White.

The short hurdles could be one of the closest races of the weekend. Madison Smith comes in as the favorite followed closely behind her own teammate Remy Abrought and Parkway West’s Nicole Douglas. Nicole Douglas could steal the show running faster against the better competition. I expect if they can run clean over the barriers all three will break the 14.40.

This Year
Madison Smith and Nicole Douglas will once again add pages to the storied rivalry in the 300LH. Last year Douglas was the state Champion. Madison Smith and Sienna Tice look to make there championship dreams come true. All three of these girls are powerfully built and show no fear as they attack the hurdles!
4x100 Meter Relay

Raytown South and Hazelwood East two super talented teams week after week lowering with a “see if you can top that kind of attitude!” If things play out like they have on the clock all year long we could be spending hours trying to figure out the winner! Now one of the interesting games with in the game will be to see how the relays stack up as Hazelwood east runs their super studs 3 and 4. To the point, look for Hazelwood to make things happen in the second half of the race.
4x200 Meter Relay

1:40.62 vs. 1:40.62, Need I say more? Just like in the 4x100, these teams couldn’t be any more similar on the clock. Watch for McCluer to surprise some people as coach Wollenbrink always seems to find a way to bring home a relay championship.
4x400 Meter Relay

Ladue. Seriously if you have lived under a rock the last couple of years, you might not have heard of Baylor High…. Excuse me Ladue High School. They have been super dominating in the 400 and 4x400. This year they will be going after the state record and with two 54 splits they will be tough to catch. McCluer Noth will try to play the spoiler role as Kendra White and co try to break up Ladue grip on the 4x400
