Jewell Dixon, Lincoln College Prep, SR, 5th

Ayesha Ewing, Cardinal Ritter, SR, 6th

This Year

Jenny Howard comes into the meet with the fastest qualifying time. Jenny has seemed to come out of nowhere to be the top seed she will be closely chased by a number of other top flight sprinters just a .1 behind her. Sarah “Bringer her gold medal” is my favorite to win after Jenny. She is a very tall athlete that seems to gobble up ground as she runs.

(Lauren Waterbury, MICDS)

Returning All State Runners

Lauren Waterbury, MICDS, SR, 2nd

Ayesha Ewing, Cardinal Ritter, SR, 3rd

Taylor Gadbois, Maryville, SR, 4th

This Year

Ayesha Ewing comes in at pole postion to start the meet. However, don’t forget about her sectional Lauren Waterbury in the 200. Both are equally good and should easily run under 25.0 seconds. This will be a great private school battle. Tiffeney Channon and Sarah Bringer are again athletes to watch in the half lap.

Lexie Oak, St. Pius X, JR, 2nd

Ayesha Ewing, Cardinal Ritter, SR, 4th

Cheyenne Hoerr, Affton, JR, 6th

Maddie Nelson, Smithville, SO, 7th

Taylor Parris, Pleasant Hill, SR, 8th

This Year

Lauren Waterbury last summer ran 55point in the 400 dash. This year she enters in as the number one 400 dash run. Hoerr sits at number two and will be “pulling a Farmer” as goes after both the 400 and 300LH races.  Taylor Gadbois Maryville is my dark horse. Last year at state she ran step for step with Kianna Ruff splitting a 55 second 4x400 leg. If Taylor can find that state magic again she might just win the whole thing.

Returning All State Hurdlers

Hannah Heard, John Burroughs, SR, 5th

Akelia Rucker, Moberly, JR, 6th

Breanne Borman, Festus, JR, 8th

This Year

Hali Ford from Afton has been racking up wins all year long. Will this be the year she comes home with a championship? Chances are good that a Borman from Festus will finish in the top 3 at state considering that both sisters are sitting in the top five qualifying positions. How many girls do the Borman’s have? Other top athletes include Akelia Rucker and DeSoto’s  Kendra Perren.

None

This Year

Cheyenne Hoerr a unique name for a unique talent. Cheyenne has the ability to run everything from the 100Dash to the 800. She has the build and the ability to be a super multi event athlete in college. For now she will just enjoy making all of her rivals eat dust as she tears around the track.

4x100 Meter Relay

U. City and Gateway tech have storied histories when it comes to the relay events. U. City has quietly been running really fast behind times like Hazelwood East. I am sure the U. City coaches don’t mind as they have been able to stay under the radar and are just one step away from again reliving state championship dreams.

4x200 Meter Relay

MICDS seems to be a shoe in for the state championship with big gun Lauren Waterbury as an anchor they will be hard to catch in they hand off in first. U. City will again try to stay in the race till the bitter end and if MICDS has a bad hand off all bets are off. Expect U. City to swoop in and take the championship if a mistake is made around the track
