In the 4x100 meter run Grain Valley went quick and won with a 44.09 and then bounced back in the 4x200 to win in 1:32.62. GrainValley has fantastic squads in the sprinting relays. and I would keep them up on anyones radar as the season continues.
Trenton came away with huge wins on the 4x400 and 4x800. Their 4x400 won in 3:31.09 and their 4x800 came away huge with a 8:24.48 Trenton is sprouting big as a team and I do expect to see their names as the season continues.
In the Hurles we had a few huge performances including multiple All-Missouri times! Zach Hoover a Senior from Grain Valley posted a 15.08 to pull out the win over Sophomore Multi-Eventer, Nick Roofner. Roofner posted a 15.94 and then got 3rd in the 300 hurdles posting a 43.14. Speaking to Roofner after, it was clear his priority is to be as healthy and healed as can be heading into the mid level of the season. Brandon Stimelsky of Lathrop shattered the boards with a crazy 41.16 in the hurdles and Colby Larson scored a silver with 42.50.
In the 200 dash, Grain Valley Sophomore Daniel Mahurin scorched a 22.98 to win big here over Junior Zach Parmenter of Smithville who was a clear favorite. Yet Again Richard Richardson the Freshman from Liberty North got his name called, placing well and bringing in a impressive time of 24.30. As this kid keeps gaining experience in the next few years, put a target on his back cause he will be the guy to chase.
Trenton took the one, two route in the 400 dash, Juniors Seth Acton (50.51) and Sam Cool (52.43) took out strong and flexed their muscles placing 1-2 in the race and edging out Sophomore John Weeks of Savannah.
Oak Parks prodigy distance runner, Liban Samatar has a huge day winning both the 3200 and 800, we will touch on the 800 first. Liban sat back in 2nd and aloud James Fairchild to take control of most of the work. In the last 40 meters it became a sprint to the finish and a photo finish determined the victor. Samatar ran 2:02.03 to win over the Senior of Trenton who went 2:02.43.In the 1600 meter run, Clay Evans was able to pull out the win with a 4:43.50 over Josh Johnson of Oak Park who ran 4:44.93. The conclusion of the Open distance events was the boys 3200 meter run, and as stated earlier Liban Samatar won big again. His time wound up being short of his goal, but a win is a win. Samatar went 10:07.18 to defeat Jobson of Liberty North (10:16.12) who out kicked Spencer Hudson of West Platte (10:19.50)
In the discus PJ Patton again proved us how dominating he was, the Harrisonville junior is one of the best in his event and he proved that again winning with a 154-1. Patton has some big meets coming up that will challenge him, but his is just what he needs as he prepares himself for another title run. In the Shot Put, Adam Roe the Sophomore from West Platte just pulled out the win over Mitch Gaylord of Grain Valley. Roe threw 48-10 and Gaylord just underthrew him by going 48-8.5
In the Triple Jump Tyler Lamb and Nick Roofner again battled it out. The Seniors experience proved dominate as Lamb won with a mark of 42-10 over Roofners 42-03. Lamb then finished up in the sand pits winning the Long Jump with a 22-0.25 in the Long Jump. In the High Jump Senior Riley Williams of Savannah went ridiculous with a 6-6 height! and Collin Haahr of Lathrop had a solid vault of 13-6
The boys from Trenton got it done and now have made their mark on the Class 3 schools, they have developed all around and just watch out for them as the season continues.
