This weekend was another busy weekend for Missouri track athletes. With races in St. Louis, Columbia, and Lawrence, we highlight the top performances from them all.
Kansas Jayhawk Open
-The mile races were good to Missouri Athletes. Clinton's Nicole Lee finished second in 5:17 with the Kyler Haumann of Ozark ran a faster mile time, 4:30.09, than his 1600m PR to take a third place finish.
-Last yea'r Class 3 runner up in the pole vault, Kathryn Ambrose, won today with a mark of 11-0.
-Roy Bay had two national elite performances. The Truman senior was third in the 200m, 22.92, and second in the 60m, 6.97. His teammate, Cole Rockhold, won the 3000m in a time of 8:45.77 which equates to a 9:24.
-Lee's Summit West girls took third and fourth in the mile with Annika Sisson edging out her teammate, Kennadee Williams. However the top performance from a Titan came from Elizabeth Nolke who finished second in the 3K with a time of 10:57. This time is roughly equivalent to an 11:45.
STL Frostbite 4M/13.1M
Noah Kauppila hit the roads to prepare for the USA XC Championship where he will be running an 8K. The Marquette junior ran 21:11 for 4 miles which is an average of 5:18 per mile. Dillon Williams of Webster Groves came in third thirty seconds behind Kauppila.
Big River Running Indoor Qualifying Meet #3
-Multiple time state champ, Nataliyah Friar, made her senior season debut winning both the long jump (18-1) and triple jump (39-3.25). Her triple jump mark puts her 7th in the nation.
-Zach Reed had hit 14-6 three weeks in a row. He had a great day clearing 15-3 to move into 21st in the nation.
-Sarah Jacobsen hit the track of her future home to easily win the 1600m in a time of 5:15.23.
-Four MO female athletes cleared a national elite mark in the pole vault, with Heather Glenn of Liberty and Alesa Frey of Brookfield both clearing 11-6.25. This mark was a personal best for Frey, while Glenn was over a foot better than her mark from her 11th place finish at State last spring.
