Phone interview with Parkway West sophomore Maddy Brown the day after her victory in the Varsity Girls 4A 5k race at the 2012 Hancock Cross Country Invitational at Jefferson Barracks Park in St. Louis, Saturday, September 22. Brown, who earned All-State honors with her 15th place finish as a freshman in 2011, won a close finish at Hancock in 19:05 to edge Lafayette freshman Sarah Nicholson by less than 4/10ths of a second and Eureka's Angie Sumner by just over a second.
