10. Cassilyn Enyart - Summit Preparatory School (Previous: NR; Change: N/A)

9. Emma McIntyre - New Haven (Previous: NR; Change: N/A)

8. Anna Carter - St. Joseph Christian (Previous: 4; Change: -4)

7. Emma Derr - Mound City (Previous: 3; Change: -4)

6. Emma McIntyre - New Haven (Previous: NR; Change: N/A)

5. Lexi Elmore - West Platte (Previous: NR; Change: N/A)

4. Emma Homfeldt - Calvary Lutheran (Previous: NR; Change: N/A)

Homfeldt makes the jump up to #4 in our subjective rankings from previous obscurity after a debut 5K of 21:17 at the First to the Finish Kick Off Classic. She reminded us that she just took 3rd at the Class 1 State Track Meet with a 2:25 and is now prepared to take on cross country.

3. Alexis Workman - Summit Preparatory School (Previous: NR; Change: N/A)

Recognize the name? Boy were we surprised to see another Workman coming in just as the other was leaving. Could you imagine if she was just a year older? Already, Alexis has made a name for herself, though, running 20:23 in her debut at SWCCCA and will probably be under 20:00 very soon. She is absolutely on our radar now.

2. Julia McIntyre - New Haven (Previous: 1; Change: -1)

She may have been bumped to #2 after early season success from our new #1, but make no mistake about Julia and her cross country prowess. We fully expect her to drop some faster times as the year progresses after running under 20:00 4 times last year including her 19:58 4th place finish at state. She ran 12:20 this spring so we are still on serious watch.

1. Ashley Riley - South Nodaway (Previous: 2; Change +1)

Ashley Riley jumps to #1 after an early season 20:20 at the Spoofhound Invitational. She was the only other Class 1 returner to break 20:00 last year and appears to be set up well to do it again in 2017. She was 6th in the 1600 and 2nd in the 3200 in Class 1 last spring.

Teams

5. Calvary Lutheran (Previous: NR; Change: N/A)

4. St. Joseph Christian (Previous: 2; Change: -2)

3. Crystal City (Previous: 1, Change: -2)

Crystal City came into the season very strongly, but hasn't really shown us what they're made of just yet. This early in the season, we're not ready to totally drop them out of the Top 3 just yet.

2. Hermitage (Previous: 3; Change: +1)

1. New Haven (Previous: 7; Change: +6)

There's no denying as we've talked about quite a bit already that New Haven is far and away the best team in Class 1 right now. They came into the season questionably, but have put away all doubt early on. With an average of 22:37 among their Top 5 and 7 girls ahead of the next best team's #4, New Haven appears ready for a crack at a state cross country title after all of their track titles.
