Shining Through the Rain: Class 1& 2 State Recap

Class 1 Highlights

Gage McAdams Breaks Class 1 Pole Vault Record

Gage had one heck of a weekend in the Pole Vault. Not only did he PR by nearly a whole foot, he also broke the Class 1 State Record with a 15-00.25. That broke the previous record of 15-0 even. Not bad considering he still has an entire year of high school left. Not bad at all.

Jasmine Taylor Wins 200 & 400; Places 2nd in 100

After taking 3rd and 4th in the 400 and 200 last year, Jasmine came back this year and put on a show. She won State Titles in both events, and even added a 2nd place finish in the 100 to her name. Not a bad weekend for the Braymer Sophomore.

Addie Grapperhaus Defends 100 State Title, Finishes 2nd in 200 and 400

Addie finished off her high school career with her 2nd State Championship in the 100. She also finished as the Runner-Up in the 200 and 400 to Braymer Super Sophomore Jasmine Taylor. All in all it was a good way to wrap up a stellar high school career.

Jacob Querry Wins 200 & 400 State Championships

Jacob really rose to the occasion this weekend. Despite less than ideal weather, he was still able to run HUGE PR's in both the 200 and 400 to secure State Title's. He had never broken 23 in the 200 before this weekend and he did it twice with a 22.64 Friday in Prelims, and a 22.53 in finals Saturday. Talk about peaking at the right time.

Ashley Riley Sweeps 1600 & 3200

After placing 2nd and 6th in the 3200 and 1600 last year, Riley came looking for State Titles this year and she got them. She held of Sophia Rush in the 1600, and blew away the field in the 3200. She PR'd big time in both events, 8 seconds in the 1600 and 13 seconds in the 3200. It'll be fun to watch her push further next year in her senior season.
