Whitney Adams is good at everything.  Fifth in the 100, seventh in the 5K in cross country, she can do it all.  She is someone to watch for in whatever race she enters, but if its her best event you can almost guarantee you will see something special.  The Francis Howell senior who will be attending Kansas starting in the fall, Adams is the returning state champ in the 400, winning last year by over two and a half seconds.  She lit it up at sectionals, clocking in at 54.47 to easily win and advance to state.  This time shows she is well within reach of the Class 4 Record set back in 2011, a race she was in where Montenea Roye ran 53.84 (Adams was third as a sophomore).  It isn’t even out of the question for her to break the state record set by Alishea Usery, 53.55 set in 2007.  To reclaim gold she will have to defeat the likes of Brady Rodney and Rhema Taylor.  Rodney came out on top of the matchup last week, running a quick 56.42 with Taylor second in 57.11.  Taylor, only a freshman, is currently ranked 33^rd for freshmen in this event nationally. Rodney of Central St. Joseph is returning after a seventh place finish a year ago.  Also in the field is Elisa Steele of Kirkwood who comes in with a personal best of 57.20 but a season best of 58.86.  She gets it done on the track and in the classroom as she is headed to Princeton next year.
