Preview
It is just hard to see MICDS senior Amos Bartelsmeyer not winning this race. The 1600m champ a year ago has the best time this season in Class 3 by 15 seconds, a lead that would be respectable for a race twice the distance. He is just one of the better milers to come through Missouri in the past few years. With it being on the first day, don’t expect Amos to blast it, but barring an unfortunate event like one that happened in the 3200 for the future Hoya, expect Amos to claim another gold medal in this event on Friday. The race for second will be a close one with four guys coming in within two seconds. Sheldon Keence and Joe Anger come in ranked second and third in Class 3. Keence ran 4:26 and looks likely to be in the top of the pack this weekend. A sleeper based off this year’s times is Kain Ellis. The Benton senior ran a solid 4:24 a year ago.
