Michael Wells Signs with Oklahoma
- The fastest high schooler in Missouri has chosen Oklahoma. Michael Wells, many time state champ, has selected to be a Sooner. Wells is on fire this indoor season, currently ranked #2 nationally in the 60m with a time of 6.73. He joins a Sooner Squad that has had some great success in the sprints in the past, particularly Mookie Salaam – a 9.86 100m runner.
Spencer Haik signs with Columbia University
- Spencer Haik has displayed his kick continually for the past couple of years. The middle distance star has won the 1600m twice now in Class 4. He also won the Festival of Miles a year ago – closing hard in the last 100m to pass a number of talented runners. Haik has become one of the best milers in the country, and he will join a very successful Missouri Miler at Columbia. Daniel Everett, a former Missouri State Champ in the mile, has run 4:00 for a mile under Columbia’s Willy Wood. The Lions have also qualified for XC Nationals the past three years now.
Ashley Henderson signs with San Diego State
- Ashley Henderson, winner of three events last spring, will be headed out to California in the fall. Henderson solidified herself as the girl to beat this year after winning the 100m, 200m a year ago. She holds bests of 11.83 and 23.89. She will be joining a San Diego State program that is led by LaQuisha Jackson. As a freshman, Jackson ran 11.31 and 23.23, the fastest on the team.
Jill Whitman signs with Indiana
- 2013 Class 4 3200m champ, Jill Whitman, has signed with Indiana. Whitman, who qualified for NXN this past fall, has been one of the top female distance runners in the state recently. Her second place finish at the State XC Meet was followed up by an incredible fifth place finish at NXN Midwest. She is headed to Indiana where she joins recent Lutheran South grad, Amanda Behnke, who is having great success in the Hoosier State. The Indiana women qualified for national in cross country this past year and look to be one of the better programs in the Midwest as of late.
Nicole Lee Signs with Tulsa
- Class 3 standout Nicole Lee makes it official with Tulsa. Lee, who holds bests of 5:03 for a full mile, 10:52, and 18:00, has been one of the top runners in Class 3 for a couple of years now. She was second in the 3200m a year ago as well as third in the 1600m. This past fall she finished third at the State XC Meet. The Tulsa women are coming off of a 12th place finish at the Midwest Region in the fall. A number of Missouri gentlemen are currently excelling at Tulsa – Danny Thater, Tim Rackers, and Emmett Cookson.
Cole Rockhold signs with Colorado State
- Rockhold has become one of the top distance runners in the state over the last two years. The Truman senior has a breakout year as a junior, running bests of 4:13, 9:07, and 15:38. Rockhold, who was fifth this past fall at the State Meet, joins a Colorado State team that is on the rise. The Rams qualified for Nationals in cross country this past fall where they placed 26th.
Annika Sisson signs with Arkansas
- Annika began her high school career before finding her spot in the 800m. Sisson, who was all state for the Lee’s Summit West XC team this past fall, is on pace for a great senior track season after a strong 2:15 showing at the Arkansas HS Invitational which puts her inside the top 20 nationally. She will be joining the top ranked Missouri Alum in the 800, Jessica (Jackson) Kamilos at Arkansas, one of the top programs in the country. The Razorbacks are currently ranked 6th in the nation as a team.
Kennadee Williams signs with North Florida
- Williams is one of the best all-around distance recruits on the girl’s side. She helped Lee’s Summit West win two state titles in her first two seasons. Her junior track season was a great one as she finished fourth in both of the 1600m and 3200m. She also ran a quick 17:54 5K on the track at New Balance Nationals. She joins a North Florida squad that is coming off of a third place finish in the Atlantic Sun Conference.
Jamie Newsome signs with Indiana State
- Indiana State picks up Jamie Newsome, an All-State jumper and 400m runner. Newsome, who has a best of 57.61 in the 400m, is one of the top returners in the 400m and triple jump. She finished 8th in the triple jump but went on to jump even further in the summer. She had a best of 38-6.25 at the AAU Junior Olympic Games where she placed third. With a girl at 56 for the 400m and another at 39-4 for the triple jump indoors, Newsome will be a good addition to the Indiana State squad.
Stephan Hickman signs with Missouri S&T
- Stephan is a member of the 2013 All-State 800m class. He is also a member of some of the most successful relays is school history. Stephan ran anchor leg for the 2013 State Champion 4x400 meter relay.
Dominic Vaiana signs with Xavier
- Dominic was a key member of some of the most successful (4x200, 4x400 & Sprint Medley) relays in the schools history. He was also a key member of CBC's 2013 State Championship 4x400m relay.
Shelby Werner signs with Missouri Southern State
- Shelby Werner, who has played a huge part of Ste. Genevieve’s success of late, will be running for Missouri Southern in the fall. Shelby was fifth a year ago at the State XC meet and holds bests of 11:32 and 19:25.
Kyle Gabrielson signs with William Woods
- William Woods picks up Kyle Gabrielson, the leader of the Liberty squad this past fall at the state meet. Gabrielson was 15th at the state meet where he ran a best of 16:15. This played a big part Liberty finishing up on the podium with a fourth place finish. He joins a William Woods team that was led this past fall by Kaleb Wilson, a former 1A State XC Champ.
Elizabeth Nolke signs with University of Missouri-Kansas City
- Elizabeth helped the Titans during their reign in Cross Country. Nolke ran on two state winning teams as an underclassman. A state qualifier in the 1600m, Nolke holds a best of 5:07 for the event. . She joins a UMKC program that boasts one of the best Missouri Alum’s – Courtney Frerichs, who earned All-American status back in Spring for steeplechase.
Ty Hughes signs with University of Central Missouri
- The Central Missouri Mules add Ty Hughes, one of the top runners in Class 3 the past couple of years. Hughes capped off his high school cross country career with a strong fifth place finish. Hughes qualified in both the 1600m and 3200m back in the spring where he placed 15th and 10th respectively. Hughes heads south to Warrensburg where he will join a UCM team that is coming off of a one point conference victory this past fall over Missouri Southern.
Bailey Horlander signs with Longview Community College
- Bailey Horlander, who has a best of 21:27 for 5K, makes it official with Longview Community College.
