TEAM RANKINGS
Girls
1. Lafayette (Wildwood) – Our top ranked team has not slowed down in recent weeks, winning District 2 and Section 1 by comfortable margins. 3rd last year, they appear ready to take the next step.
2. Nerinx Hall – I doubt these girls will be conceding anything next week. They were runners-up last fall with Sophia Racette not at 100% during the state meet. The Markers held off Rock Bridge in the Section 2 battle on Saturday.
3. Blue Springs South – The Section 4 winners move up a spot after an impressive October.
4. Rock Bridge – Only 7 points back of a tough Nerinx Hall squad at Sectionals.
5 Ray-Pec Still seems a little odd seeing Ray-Pec in Section 3 with Lee’s Summit West but these girls put up a 20 point victory after a convincing win at Districts a week earlier.
6. Eureka – Runners-up to Lafayette at Sectionals, this squad seems to get better every week. They were a podium team in 2013 and are serious contenders to do the same this season.
7. Kearney – The District 8 Champs move up a few spots after a 2nd place finish to # 3 Blue Springs South at Sectionals.
8. Ste Genevieve – When these girls fell from the top 10 during the regular season we suspected the defending Class 3 Champs would be heard from again. They held off #9 Festus at District 1 on Saturday.
9. Festus- The rematch will be on in Jefferson City as just 6 points separated the Tigers from Ste Genevieve on Saturday.
10. Jefferson City This last spot was tough as we considered a couple of strong Class 3 schools but gave the #10 spot to the Section 3 runner up. The Lady Jays were 15th a year ago and are in a great position to have a much better showing next Saturday.
