As I have told all of my athletes, the only expectations that I have of them is to be a good person and a good teammate. To me, expectations are burdensome, so I told her what my BELIEFS are: I believe that she is able to finish in the top 5 at the state meet, and with a great race, could even win. She has developed so quickly and to such a high level, it's hard to predict what her ceiling would be.
How have things changed for her since she first started running?
She has always been a quiet and low - key type of person, but now she has been getting attention from colleges and the media, which to her is strange because she doesn't see herself as being that good. That is something I've worked on with her, realizing that she needs to be aggressive at the beginning of a race and that she belongs in or near the front of any race she is in. She also feels she has become more competitive as a person.
