Austin Hindman Smashes State 3200m Record! 8:43.40!

History was made last night at the Arcadia Invitational as Lafayette senior Austin Hindman destroyed the state 3200m record by nine seconds running a time of 8:43.40.  Hindman take second place in the Invitational 3200m.  That time was a personal best by 20 seconds for Hindman.

Hindman was second in the race only behind California state champ Cooper Teare.  Teare recently won the Texas Distance Festival Elite 5K with a time of 14:13 and also holds a best of 4:06 in the mile. The race also featured many of the best distance runners in the country NXN champ Casey Clinger, three of the top-10 finishers at least years Foot-Locker Championships, and state champions from all across the country.

The Arcadia Invitational is known for producing some of the top 3200m times in the country.  Just last year Hindman's former teammate and current Baylor Bear Devin Meyrer became the sixth Missouri high schooler to crack the nine-minute barrier with a time of 8:59.17.

Hindman also is an elite triathlete as he recently won the ITU World Youth Championships last September.  Austin will be attending the University of Missouri.
