Schultz Battles Back From Brutal Injuries For Fourth Place Finish, Key to Team's Podium Spot

All throughout the season we had noticed that the Preseason #3, junior Jesse Schultz from Lutheran Kansas City, had been missing for the first few meets and was not his old self as he had started to race. He finished 4th on Saturday and after a rough start to the season, the reasons for his absence told a story of resilience and perseverance unmatched in the sport today. Schultz tagged us in an instagram post that told his story and we felt it necessary to share with all of you. Congratulations, Jesse, and we look forward to seeing what you do in the next year and a half!

"On January 1st, 2017 I tore the medial meniscus in my right knee and received a repair surgery that would keep me on the sidelines for all of track season. Over the next 5 months, I went to physical therapy 2 times a week until I finally reached full strength. At the end of July, I tore my meniscus again and had 40% of it removed through a second surgery. This procedure kept me away from cross country until the end of September. I can't even begin to describe the amount of sadness felt during these moments of my life. But I often forgot who was with me throughout this whole journey... God. I am so thankful for all the people that He has placed in my life who have helped and encouraged me throughout this long process. I am so blessed that God gave me this opportunity to run again. Even if I could, I'd never change anything that's happened to me these past 11 months. God is so good! "Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."" -1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
