Pre-Season Rankings: Class 2 800

Boys

8. Andrew Ernat - Penney, SR

PR - 2:02.99

The first of two Penney studs on this list, Ernat ran 2:02.99 for 7th at last year's state meet. Like his teammate who will be discussed later, Ernat does not participate in cross country, but that does not take away from his mid distance prowess. We have him taking a step back this season, but don't think he won't try to make a jump this spring.

7. Garrett Becker - Steelville, SR

PR - 2:02.87

Becker has had some hard luck over the last couple seasons at the state meet. He was the 9th place finisher in last year's 800, but has shown promise over 800, 1600, 3200, and 5000 in his career. Becker returns with a 2:02.87 personal best and has run 4:36 for 1600 - 5th last year in that. He should make it to the podium this year in the 800 after missing out last year.
