Pre-Season Rankings: Team Scores

Class 1 Girls

1. New Haven

Projected Points: 48

Last year's finish: 1st

New Haven is front-loaded with talent across the field events.

Jack-of-all-trades Lauren Gerlemann showed up five times on our rankings and, while five events at the state meet is impossible, she has shown that she could be in the 30 point range just on her own. Mizzou commit Kate Ruediger should repeat in the javelin, as well, and Emma Engelbrecht will contribute big points in the jumps, too.

Noteworthy: Not a single New Haven distance girl showed up in our rankings. They took second in cross country season this season and, should they have a healthy Julia McIntyre to combine with her freshman sister, Emma, could add big points to the Shamrocks' total that they did not have for last spring's state title.

2. Worth County

Projected Points: 45

Last year's finish: 12th

Worth County gets points across a number of events, too, and will see their biggest contributions from Anna Gladstone - probably in four events - and Merrideth Spiers in the throws. Regan Allee gives them some points in the pole vault, too, but as long as Gladstone pulls in the big points in the hurdles and long and high jump, Worth County is in good shape to grab a trophy this May.

3. Braymer

Projected Points: 34

Last year's finish: 14th

Taylor Francis brings home a 10-spot in the pole vault and Jasmine Taylor is an elite talent in the sprints that will bring home points in the 100, 200, and 400. Braymer gets some help and they could move up, but Worth County and New Haven's depth will keep them comfortably ahead of Braymer at the moment.

4. Barat Academy

Projected Points: 30

Last year's finish: 7th

An army of one, Addie Grapperhaus looks to win all three sprint events and single-handedly take Barat Academy to the podium this spring. If she lengthens out a little bit, she could even go for the 800 and try to pick up a few more points and maybe put some more cushion on the rest of the pack, what with relays not being in the mix for these projections.

Nevertheless, we saw this happen last year with Khristen Bryant of Columbia Independent as her 36 points earned Columbia Independent a fourth place trophy and could see it happen again this year with Barat.
