Seven out of the eight state medalists in the Girls 800m return in 2020. Back to Back Defending State Champion Kylie Goldfarb (John Burroughs) leads those returners, and also owns the fastest returning time with a 2:16.74 that she ran over the summer. She'll have to fend off rival Mercedes Schroer (Christian) again in 2020 along with fellow top returners Olivia Gilliam (Lawson) and Macy Schelp (Lutheran South).
There are four returning state medalists returning in the Boys 800m in 2020. Among them is defending champion Malik Stewart (Maplewood-Richmond Hts) who also has the fastest returning time with an 1:57.84. However, he'll have his hands full with 2017 & 2018 State Champion Brandon Miller (John Burroughs) making his return from a injury last season. Miller holds a PR of 1:49.55 and will look to better that and beat the State record this year.
There are a whopping seven returning state medalists in the Girls 1600m this Spring. Kylie Goldfarb (John Burroughs) is the defending State Champion and has the fastest returning time as well with a 5:08. Also in the field is 2018 State Champion Mercedes Schroer (Christian) who returns with a 5:16, and Macy Schelp (Lutheran South) who also returns with a 5:16.
The Boys 1600m looks to be a good one with six returning state medalists returning this year. Last year's runner up Malik Stewart (Maplewood-Richmond Heights) is the top returner from last year and returns with a time of 4:28. Kolin Overstreet (Lamar) has the top returning time from last year with a 4:20, and Jonathon Coffman (Herculaneum) and Daelen Ackley (El Dorado Springs) return with a 4:25 and 4:31 respectively and will likely factor in to the race.
With seven State Medalists returning in the Girls 3200m, it looks like it'll be a competitive race again in 2020. Back to back Defending State Champ Mercedes Schroer (Christian) will be looking to defend her title and comes in with a previous season best of 12:02. Jordyn Stafford (Cassville) and Macey Penner (Mountain Grove) return with the fastest times from last year as both ran an 11:57. Also returning is Macy Schelp (Lutheran South) who has a break out year in Cross Country which included a season best time of 18:44.
