The 2021 Missouri high school cross country season is underway as the first 5Ks of the season have been ran.
We've already seen some great performances by Missouri athletes and we are are going to highlight a few of them here.
Fastest Boys 5Ks So Far | Fastest Girls 5Ks So Far
One of the top performers of the season so far has been Julia Ray of MICDS. She already picked up a big win at the FZN Twilight where she defeated Grace Tyson (Lafayette - Wildwood) who had just held Ray off for the 3200m title at the state track meet in May. Ray followed up that performance with a 17:52 5K in Indiana at the Rick Weinheimer Cross Country Classic on Saturday. That is the fastest time in Missouri so far this year, and 23rd in the country.
Nikolas Malek (Lafayette - Wildwood) opened up his season very strong, taking the victory in a strong field at the FZN Twilight with a 15:45 5K. This was big PR for him, and currently stands as the fastest boys time in Missouri.
Daelen Ackley (El Dorado Springs) won a very competitive race at SWCCCA to open his season with at 15:46 5k. He's already won five state title across track and cross country, and looks like he's ready to add another this season.
