Spring brings with it the outdoor track and field season every year. It also brings a wide range of possible weather in Missouri. Wind is a large part of outdoor track and field. It is a factor that doesn't just have an impact on performances (both positively and negatively) in the sport, but can have such a large impact, that it is measured in some events where possible, and impact is direct. Wind speed can be so impactful in the horizontal jumps, 100/200/100H/110H that limits are placed on its benefits for comparative and record purposes.

2022 HOLT INVITATIONAL COVERAGE

The wind was rough March 26 at the Festus McCullough-Douglas Invitational, where estimated gusts got up to 40-miles per hour. The previous week's windburn at Festus was replaced by a combination wind and sunburn at Saturday's Holt Invitational in Wentzville. Clouds were blowing through quickly in the sky, constantly changing lighting conditions for this photographer. The wind was so strong that it blew my hat almost completely off my head enough times that I used the drawstring on a hat for the first time ever to ensure it stayed on.
