Meet Recap: MSHSAA Class 3 Boys Track and Field Championship

Two stops at the top

The Class 3 event had some standout performers who locked up multiple state championships. Osage senior Brockton McLaughlin won the 100-meter dash (10.81) and the 200-meter dash (21.54).

Ackley, a Notre Dame signee, won the 800-meter (1:53.52) and the 1,600 (4:05.96) - where he got a win against Burns. The two have developed quite a rivalry in distance races between cross country and track. Ackley won the 800, 1,600 and 3,200 runs last year, a spot ahead of Burns in the latter two.

In field events, Central Missouri signee Damarcus Kelow from Chillicothe won the discus with a heave of 54.46 meters (178-8) and then the shot put with a throw of 17.02 (55-10 ¼). Kelow was the defending state champion in the discus.
