High School Nationals x 3 Weekend!

NSAF Nike Outdoor Nationals

Southern Boone County junior Connor Burns will look to earn his first national title and drop his 800-meter PR to commensurately impressive levels as his mile and 2-mile PRs. Burns became just the 15th high schooler to break 4-minutes for the mile at the Festival of Miles, running 3:58.83.

Then on Wednesday, he ran 8:45.52 for 2-miles at the Brooks PR Invitational in Seattle, winning the event by 7-seconds and setting the combined 3200/2-mile state record. The time converts to 8:42.52, just better than Austin Hindman's 8:43.40 3200-meters school season record set in 2017.

Burns will race in the 800-meter Championship sections. His 800-meter PR came at the season opening Festus meet with a 1:57.44 victory. He'll smash that if he can stay on his feet. Burns was tripped up last year at the inaugural NSAF Nike Outdoor Nationals. He got up and managed to finish in 4:25.39.
