Also in Friday's morning session, Lincoln University Division II national champion David Kizan competed in the long jump prelims for his native St. Kitts and Nevis. Kizan placed 6th with a best of 7.40m/24-3.25'' into a 2-meter-per-second wind. Kizan advanced to the finals which are set for Sunday.

 

In the women's high jump in Friday's afternoon/evening session. Mizzou sophomore Claudina Diaz competed for her native Mexico. The 21-year-old placed 5th, clearing 1.78m/5-10'', before going out at 1.81m/5-11.25''.

 

Diaz is one of three Mizzou jumps competing the meet. Coach Iliyan Chamov also has Arianna Fisher competing in the triple jump for Team USA, while Roberto Vilches will compete in the high jump for Mexico at 3:30 p.m. CT.

This morning in the 20-kilometer Race Walk, two Missouri Baptist University alums competed for the U.S. San Diego area native Nick Christie placed 31st and 36th in the 20k and 35k races at the World Championships last month. He was seeking a second NACAC medal after taking silver in the 20k at the 2018 meet in Canada. In the Bahamas, Christie was one of two athletes that didn't finish the race and will have to wait to add another international medal.

 


Georgia native Jordan Crawford, who just wrapped up his senior year at Missouri Baptist, also made Team USA for the meet. After two NAIA national runner-up finishes on his resume, Crawford won his first NAIA race walk title in May, taking 1st in the 5,000-meter event in 21:49.78. At NACAC's, Crawford finished 6th in the field of nine in 1:49:15.32 for 20-kilometers. He was the 2nd finisher for Team USA, behind 5th-placer Daniel Nehnevaj and Christie and Emmanuel Corvera, who didn't finish or were disqualified.
